-About the studio-

What turns a slab of ceramic into a masterwork ?

For much of human history the arts have been a veiled maiden in the department of unexplained mysteries, subject to awe and admiration. Aristoteles, the ancient Greek Philosopher shedded some light on the matter in his treatise on Poetics. In which, focusing mainly on epics and tragedy, describes a value oriented esthetics to judge works of any craft, be it music, literature, architecture, painting or sculpting, denoting clear distinctions between medium, theme and style, which craftsman must master to create poetic works that represent universals.

- The Studio's Method -

RESEARCH
The first stage is to research the history, techniques

and themes of the masterworks.

REPRODUCTION

The second stage is to produce a master copy in the atelier

to learn about proportion, theme and the process.

RECIPE

The third stage is to brake down the method into stages,

listing materials and tools on tutorial plates in the manner of recipe.

PROJECTS

And lastly the fourth stage is the application of the method to produce

new designs and the organization of courses.

Interrelation between Crafts

Through the method the interrelations between crafts becomes evident, they start from seed, stem a structure and branch out to be ornamented with foliage.

Even though each medium holds unique characteristics, different crafts often share the tool kit. One can apply descriptive drawing to painting, sculpting, architecture and decorative arts.

While the visualization and projection tools of architecture can be applied into sculpting being both 3 dimensional art forms,

the painters tool kit of value and color is also used in mosaic and stained glass window design, and Ikebana principles can be applied into sculptural, painting and decorative arts compositions.
